The Selmer Chorus 80J is an amazing trumpet that very sadly is no longer in production!
Check out this very rare Selmer Chorus 80J. This horn is well suited for multiple genres of music. When Selmer announced that this horn was no longer in production, many players bought out all of the remaining stock. This is a rare find, so it will not last long at the shop!
This instrument is in very good condition. It does show minor signs of use however this horn was very well cared for. There is some very light surface scratching around the body of this horn which is typical for its age, however there are no dents or dings. There were signs of red rot in the leadpipe of this horn. In turn we've replaced the leadpipe on this instrument in the shop with an exact copy made to the specs of the original. This horn does have very good compression for its age. The valves look and feel incredible (Selmer 80J valves are amazing). As with most older horns, we recommend using a thicker valve oil such as Berp Bio Oil #3. This trumpet has a great sound and is very easy to play. It was the choice of a LOT of trumpeters in NYC in the 90's and 2000's (Jim Rotondi, Eddie Henderson, Terell Stafford, Freddie Hendrix, Rashawn Ross, to name a few).
The Selmer Paris Chorus 80J Series Professional Bb Trumpet was designed in conjunction with international artist Guy Touvron. The 80J Series features a .461-inch bore with a 4.88-inch bell designed for excellent response. The 80J was developed for smaller ensembles and is a perfect choice for studio or jazz work.
