"The Mother" Of All Horns!
Check out this awesome Del Quadro trumpet we've just received on consignment! This horn was originally made for Marquis Hill, an amazing jazz player and great friend of the shop!
This model is known as "The Mother" and is one incredible horn! It's absolutely gorgeous (see photos) and it has a lot of thoughtful design elements.
This horn is in fantastic condition and was very well cared for! There are no dents or dings on this instrument and the patina on the raw brass finish looks great. There are a few barely noticeable surface scratches on the inner bell (probably from mute insertion/removal). Beyond this it looks amazing and is a fantastic player. It has a warm and full sound that never feels like its spreading without control. This horn is very fun to play! The valves feel great with a silky smooth action and the slides move comfortably as well. Don't miss out on this great horn!
Check out the 2 piece Taylor bell (brass stem, bronze flare)! Typically, this model has a bell diameter of 5.5 inches, however this particular horn is 6 inches. It opens up through the throat in a fairly traditional taper. The bell ferrule is quite long, which adds stability to the sound. The leadpipe on this model is reversed and is a Del Quadro custom standard M leadpipe featuring a "very open blowing" ML step bore.
This horn also features gorgeous Onyx with gold inlay on the finger buttons and the third valve slide harmonic balancer screw (Which is removable) (See pictures)
There's no bracing between the bell and the valve block, which gives you great tactile feedback of the resonance of the bell. The bell-to-leadpipe bracings are stress free point-to-point style bracings reminiscent of the Conn Vocabell bracings.
All of the inner slide legs are brass except the bottom leg of the tuning slide. The valves have nickel silver uppers which adds crispness to the sound.
This horn has a Getzen valve block (one of the best valve blocks on the market) and the valves feel fantastic.
This horn features amado waterkeys

No case or mouthpiece included.
Here's how Mike describes it on his site:
That might only be half of the name.
When folks say they can only play large bores, I like to hand them this horn. The biggest blowing leadpipe I could find. The sound is HUGE and the horn will take as much as you can give it.
