From the collection
As some of you may know I have committed myself fully to playing Adams instruments (after all without them I wouldn't have even opened Austin Custom Brass) so I am parting with some truly magnificent horns from the collection. This one has taken me the longest to part ways with as it's truly special in every regard.
Mike built this horn for the 2023 ITG conference in Minneapolis. He wanted to make a one-of-a-kind superhorn and feature his incredible talents for building. It has the following special options:
MAW (Meinlschmidt MAW piston) valves ($1000+ option for builders these days). A lot of the high end horn companies are using these valves now (AR resonance, Lotus, Martin Bohme, etc)
3 different tuning bell setups:
1 large 6 inch bell made by Andy Taylor (huge sound spectrum on this one)
1 copper stem
2 different copper screw flares (one 4.75 inches and one 5.5 inches) similar to his Grande Campana (on the larger flare)
Twin-tube leadpipe setup with Mike's replication of the Selmer TT pipe (very unique and efficient)
Rounded reversed leadpipe
This horn is in fantastic condition and was very well cared for! There are no dents or dings on this instrument and the patina on the raw brass finish looks great. There are a few barely noticeable surface scratches on the inner bell (probably from mute insertion/removal). Beyond this it looks amazing and is a fantastic player. It has a warm and full sound that never feels like its spreading without control. This horn is very fun to play! The valves feel great with a silky smooth action and the slides move comfortably as well. Don't miss out on this great horn!
This horn features amado waterkeys
