Check out this vintage Olds cornet!
These are great playing and sounding horns - these Olds Super horns are quite popular among vintage horn players and were one of the most popular horns of their time. This particular horn Is very cool in that it is almost a trumpet/cornet hybrid not dissimilar to the ACB by Adams Coppernicus.
This cornet has had a receiver modification so that it takes trumpet mouthpiece shank to produce a bit more trumpet like sound with a leadpipe that has been redone to achieve this as well. Trent did this design for his own use years ago.
This horn shows a few signs of use but is otherwise in great shape. It has a beautiful patina courtesy of the raw brass. There are a few minor cosmetic blemishes on this horn, particularly some light scratching around the body and a few light pings on the leadpipe and bell stem. The 3rd valve slide ring is missing on this instrument and the 2nd slide pull knob pearl is pushed in (see pictures). None of these imperfections affect the playability of this horn! Valve action and compression is still great! This horn still has many years of playing ahead of it! As with most vintage instruments we recommend a thicker oil like Berp Bio #3.
Ryan Kisor is even known to improvise on these horns.
