"I've played flugels much more expensive, but this one just blows me away. It's like if you had a really good old Couesnon from the 60's that had super intonation and everything working perfectly. I'm a pro jazzer and play flugel a good deal. This one is very responsive to mouthpiece changes. I'm just getting ready to go to my gig tonight where I will be playing it, pretty much, the whole night at a fancy steakhouse. I have a [mouthpiece] holder on my belt and I'll have 3 or 4 flugel pieces in there of different depths depending on how loud the volume gets through the night. Seriously guys, this flugel is a 'diamond in the rough'!" -Lex
"Purchased this flugel from ACB about 8 months ago. My situation is that I use a flugel on only about 25% of my gigs, so I simply don’t want to spend 2-3k on a flugelhorn. This horn is a perfect choice, it plays as well as any flugel I have owned in the past (including Yamaha), and it’s priced very reasonably, especially considering the quality. Plus, you get the usual tremendous customer service from Josh and the rest of the guys at ACB!" -Brad
A Great Player That Looks Great Too!
The gold brass bell gives this flugel a distinguished look. The horn also features a very cool and unique hex-style trim kit on both the bottom and top valve caps. The wood on the third valve slide trigger is another great professional detail.

Manchester Brass Pro Flugehorn
I never thought I’d be so lucky to own such a wonderful instrument. The sound this flugelhorn produces soothes my soul. Together with great intonation and super responsive valves, it can’t get any better. Hooray for Austin Custom Brass! Thanks guys!!

Wow! A gorgeous instrument
I'd initially wanted the Doubler's flugelhorn, which I ordered along with the Doublers cornet to spread the shipping cost to Australia across 2 instruments. However, was a lead time on the Doubler's Flugelhorn at the time that was longer than my anticipation could deal with. After discussion with the ever-helpful Josh, I upgraded to this baby. I am so impressed with it. It plays superbly, and combined with the FAB5 mouthpiece has a tone smoother and sweeter than melted caramel. Range response is impressive. I gave it it's first outing at Concert Band rehearsal, playing French Horn cues and it really turned heads (in a good way :)) The highlight of the transaction was the video from Kyle who'd prepped it prior to shipping. This is a great part of the ACB service - especially for international customers - where the prospect of a return is particularly unpleasant. I highly recommend this horn, and of course Austin Custom Brass.

Manchester Brass Pro Flugelhorn with Gold Brass Bell
I purchased this horn solely based upon what I knew of the quality of the Manchester Brass RL-GB along with hearing Trent's demo video. After just a few notes, I was sold! This flugel does not disappoint. Right out of the case, the valve action was crips and fast. The response on this horn just allows you to hit your target and sit on it. The slots are exceptionally even. It has been a few years since I have had a flugelhorn in my collection and I never remember it being this easy to play. I tend to classify flu gels into either "buttery" or "smokey" sounding. This, for me, fits the buttery category. The tone is rich and very easy to center. The gold brass bell helps add a warmth and sweetness to the sound and much like the RL-GB, the intonation makes this horn so easy to play. I don't want to simply say "this is a great horn for the price"....it is a great horn period!

Beautiful Horn. I have to rate this one up there with the Kanstul 1525.
I'm using your ACB NY 1 FD with the Yamaha shank. Tried playing "Share My Yoke", and it made me cry. Beautiful sound, even on the high "G" it was buttery. Valve action right up there with the Getzen Valve Block. Just need to find a Deluxe Valve Guard for this model. I plan on playing it at the concerts for the Symphony Band on the 11th and the Brass Band on the 14th. Thanks for the ACB jacket for the horn, this was unexpected.

Punches far above its price!
Got this horn on a trade of an old Yamaha that I thought was not open enough for me. Love the look and feel, and sound is absolutely gorgeous in all registers and very easy to tune. Josh was great - super easy to work with and helpful. Looking forward to more transactions with ACB in the near future!!
