Antoine Courtois Prestige 319 C Trumpet!

 

 

This horn is in fair condition however does show some signs of use. The lacquer around the body is generally worn with some scratching in the finish as well. No dents or dings on this instrument and beyond the wear, this horn is in excellent playing shape! The valves move smoothly with good compression and slides move freely as well. This horn is a bit obscure in that there is little information about them. This is horn is from their Prestige C trumpet line in particular this is the 319 model and was probably manufactured some time in the late 80s. A special feature of these horns is that they have a removable leadpipe and this horn is no different. This instrument also features a Beryllium leadpipe which adds to its darker warm sound. 

 

This instrument would be perfect for section work in any classical orchestra. The sound is warmer than most C trumpets however it has a very nice sparkle to it, especially in the upper register. This horn feels very balanced to play, intonation is good and slotting is fantastic. Each note feels centered and with substantial core to it and has a fair amount of dynamic range. There is also very minimal spreading in the sound when played at higher dynamic levels. If you're in the market for a great starter C trumpet or a vintage instrument lover this is a wonderful instrument to consider!
