Pre-Owned Custom Adams A4 Shepherd's Crook Trumpet in Brushed Lacquer

Looking for a truly custom Adams trumpet without the wait time? How about an A4 with a gold brass shepherd's crook bell!

This is a pre-owned trumpet, it is in great condition but does have a few cosmetic blemishes. There are a few small pings in the bell as well as some scratching on the bell flare; the leadpipe has been replaced (with a brand new A4 pipe from Adams) so there are also some slight lacquer inconsistencies at the associated joints, as well as some general lacquer wear. Beyond these blemishes this horn is in wonderful playing condition. The valves have very smooth action and slides move comfortably. The brushed lacquer gives this horn a beautiful contemporary look. The A4 with a shepherd's crook bell has a great combination of lush soloist sound with lightening fast response!

The shepherd's crook bell is a popular custom option on the A4 for a number of reasons. The shepherd's crook design brings the end of the bell slightly closer to your ears than with a straight bell trumpet, so you'll experience excellent feedback while playing the horn (the thick bell bead helps with this as well). This bell style also gives you a broader palette of timbre and articulations to work with, which makes this horn a great choice for the expressive player. 

The A4 is one of the most popular models in the Adams trumpet line, and for good reason! This horn is a result of extensive collaborative design work with Adams Performing Artist Amik Guerra. One of the heavier models from Adams, the A4 features a lighter-gauge 5.5-inch one-piece bell and a heavy chassis (valve block, bracings, etc.). This horn is an ideal choice for the soloist looking for an extremely rich, warm, fluid, and thick sounding horn.

One of the things we love about the A4 is its versatility! This trumpet is great in many different musical environments due to the wonderful coloring and richness of the sound.
