The Legend of King Trombones!

This trombone is ideal for jazz and commercial playing. Whether you need a sweet and lyrical sound for ballads or you need to lead a section this trombone is a great fit. Plus, it is just gorgeous to look at!

King trombones are some of the most well known in the jazz-trombone world. From trombone legends like Tommy Dorsey to JJ Johnson to today’s artists like Bob McChesney, Natalie Cressman, Nick Finzer, and Ryan Heinlein the King trombone sound has adorned thousands of stages and recordings.

Originally a dual-bore model, hence 2B (2-bore) of the popular "King Liberty", the King 2B was first produced in the mid 30s. The King 2B “Legend Series” of trombones are a tribute back to the vintage King 2B models. King has brought back the removable counterweight and vintage inspired engraving. The counterweight allows a player to easily modify the response characteristics of the King 2B.

The King 2BPL (plus) is a single bore model, .500 bore. The bell is Sterling Silver. The main tuning slide and gooseneck are yellow brass. The handslide is yellow brass.

A new lightweight pro series case has also replaced the bulky wood-shell cases. Previous King 2B based models were also referred to as the “2102” – which was more of a part number. The new Legend Series models have returned to their original model names and are once again a “King 2B”.

This trombone would sell new for close to $4700. This trombone is in overall very good condition with almost no signs of being pre-owned. There is a small impact mark on the bell (right around 1 o'clock mark if you are holding the trombone in a playing position) but otherwise this trombone looks like it is fresh from the factory! Slide moves freely but there is a little "slide noise" especially past 5th position (this does not seem to limit the slides ability to move freely between positions and be easy to use). This should make for a wonderful instrument for someone serious about playing jazz who wants a legendary jazz trombone sound.

Sold with a case and comes with a King 11C mouthpiece.
