King 3B Silversonic Trombone
The King 3B Silversonic comes from the early 60's and has been a staple in the vintage trombone world.
This model of trombone is ideal for jazz and commercial playing. The King 3B is ideal for small group jazz and big band players alike. This trombone has a fantastic trombone sound for salsa music too! Sterling bells are heavier, denser alloy, and do take a little more energy in to resonate fully, but the payoff is enormous energy out front. You get an enormous penetrating sound with lots of center, clarity, and warmth. People love the way they sound.
We received this trombone on consignment and is in overall good condition. It does present some signs of use as this instrument was played by an active musician. The neckpipe is mostly unlacquered, the inside of the bell has some scratching. The slide is like butter, silky smooth. There are spots of lacquer wear across the slide, mainly around cork barrels and the crook. The sterling bell is overall in good shape, with lacquer wear and scratches around it. The tuning slide crook shows wear with some scratching and lacquer wear. There are also some signs of dent repair on the main tuning slide.
King trombones are some of the most well known in the jazz-trombone world. From trombone legends like Tommy Dorsey to JJ Johnson to today’s artists like Bob McChesney, Natalie Cressman, Nick Finzer, and Ryan Heinlein the King trombone sound has adorned thousands of stages and recordings.
The 3B features a .508" bore for excellent control in all ranges of the instrument. This is a classic jazz trombone style and sound and should make for a wonderful instrument for someone serious about playing jazz and wants a classic jazz trombone sound.
