The Legendary Martin Handcraft  Committee

We're super excited to have this horn in the shop!

The Martin Committee Trumpet is a legendary jazz trumpet that was originally designed in the late 1930s by Renold Schilke. It has been played by many famous artists, including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and Chet Baker. Some say the Martin Committee Trumpet is the best trumpet they've ever played. The sound is like nothing else out there.
The Martin Handcraft Committee model was the design that came between the Handcraft Imperial (an underrated horn in the Martin lineup) and Committee. It was designed by a "committee" of trumpet makers, although most if not all of the actual design work was allegedly done by Renold Schilke. The Handcraft Committee has a lot more nickel trim, and traditional water keys instead of the trombone style water keys of the Committee.

This horn is in fair condition however it does show some signs of use. The lacquer on this instrument is fairly worn and there is some general scratching around the horn body. The valves feel great and would perform best with a heavier oil, such as Berp Bio 3.  The slides on this trumpet also move well. Beyond the cosmetic, this horn is in wonderful playing shape and would be perfect for any collector to have in their collection. This horn is perfect for any type of jazz playing, solo or section. It is capable of a wide variety of tonal colors. Take advantage of this opportunity to get an all time classic horn at a great price!

This is a "2 Bore" (stamped on 2nd valve casing)

The serial 143594 number puts this horn at 1944, possibly very early 1945 (https://thebrasscellar.com/martin-trumpet-and-cornet-serial-numbers/)
