Here is a rare one indeed! The Conn 8-B, this model trumpet is hard to come by, let alone in such good shape! We estimate this horn is from the late 1960s (via conn loyalist). This one is in lacquer, and was a well played instrument. There are some signs of use on this horn, with some scratching particularly around the body of the horn as well as general lacquer wear (see pictures) There are a few minor dents around this horn particularly on the bell stem and leadpipe. The leadpipe is slightly tweaked to the left on this instrument and the bell is slightly bowed. Beyond these cosmetic blemishes this horn is an amazing player. The valves move very well with great compression and slides all move comfortably! This horn is actually the lightweight cousin of the Conn Connstellation 36B. These horns are a rare find, dont miss your opportunity to grab one at a great deal!
From Conn:
Notice the "wide" wrap. The 8B is similar to the 6B Victor. The differences are in the bell, which is smaller on the 8B (4 5/8" as opposed to the 6B's 5 1/8") and the lack of a coprion leadpipe which later 6B's were equipped with. It has the same #1 bore (0.438") and top spring valves as the 6B Victor. Parts of the valve assembly were apparently aluminum, to reduce weight. The 8B was available both lacquered and in "bright silver finish". The 8B was produced from 1963 to at least 1979, but probably not much later than that. They were apparently very popular among jazz players at the time, and are quite rare these days.
