As some of you may know I have been working with Steve and his great company for some time on some designs. Today is the day I might as well make it official that I am officially a Bell Trumpet and Flugelhorn artist. The experience with Steve has been nothing than extraordinary! I never thought when I started the conversations with Steve about carrying his line we'd get here. It was never mentioned or even inferred.

The first thing I learned about Steve is that he’s deeply committed to making incredible instruments that are absolutely dialed in to the client’s needs. I have never seen this much passion and dedication… Steve is relentless in the absolute best way. During the initial testing I have to be honest I wasn’t that into the trumpets for ME. I thought for our clients these were going to be incredible options but I have some stupendous instruments. Never thought they’d get replaced. Steve kept sending me instruments to try. Each one was closer and closer to the sound in my head… I kept thinking to myself “How is this possible?” After 5-6 versions the horn on the bottom left is absolutely blowing my mind. It feels like a direct connection to my ideas. The cats in the shop even noticed…

It’s not a slight on any other other amazing horns we have in the shop! These Bell trumpets just feel effortless. Truly.

I know Steve and I aren’t done in terms of dialing it in even more which makes me even more excited for this. I hope to get down to the Bell Trumpet showroom after TMEA to really nail things down. ACB is honored to be a Bell Trumpets dealer. Honored! I think this company is going to revolutionize the trumpet world and I am so excited to be now a tiny part of it. As we move forward in 2026 and beyond Bell Trumpets will be a huge part of our mission to provide incredible transformative gear to make YOUR musical lives better!

Here is a list of our backbores in order of tightest to most open:

• KA3: our newest commercial backbore and it is amazing! Feels almost like the throat is one size smaller due to the compression.

• KA2: a very nice backbore with good zing.

• KA1: more core than the A2 and a bit tighter as well.

• A2: The A2 is a weapon! Designed to be mated with compression mouthpieces.

• T: Tight: commercial backbore which provides the most resistance and "zing" to your sound

• MT: Medium Tight: Provides great resistance, especially for players who tend to "backup."

• S: Standard: Provides the best balance between resistance and sound spread for most players.

• MO: Medium Open: A great slightly open symphonic shape produces a rich, warm tone but still gives ample resistance when needed.

• A1: This backbore is a very large, symphonic backbore that is in between the MO and O – a

wonderful backbore suited for the classical player or jazz soloist wishing for a large sound!

• O: Open: This is a very large, open backbore designed for the orchestral musician to provide the feel and sound spread that most orchestral players prefer

• OO: Very Open: Huge backbore for enormous, rich sound (takes a lot of air)
