Custom build your Schagerl LU5A trumpet today!
We were so impressed with this model at the 2020 NAMM!
This trumpet is just cool! Very versatile sound shape with incredible resonance in the sound. It's a large bore piston trumpet with a rotary valve trumpet style tunable bell.
This trumpet was designed in collaboration with Gileno Santana, lead trumpeter in Portugal's Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos. He also performs on the Schagerl Spyder.
Gileno Santana about the "'Lu5a"
“Its simply a tribute that i did to the lusophone [Portuguese speaking] community. The main feature of this trumpet is the bell alongside with this small detail [the wire bracing on the tuning slide and bell bow] that is a vibration conductor which makes the trumpet vibrate more with less air. This instrument...works very well on classical music and works very well also for jazz.”
Features:
- Tuning Gold Bell (rotary bell)
- Thin bracings
- Gold brass Leadpipe
- L Bore
- Monel Pistons

Amazing Bb!
I LOVE this horn. It almost reads my mind it's so easy to navigate and the resonance is unbelievable! It is very responsive to mpc choice and can give you anything from mellow and flugel like to peeling paint if you're into that sort of thing ;). The low register has always been a bit hit or miss for me and on the Lu5a I have the easiest lower register I've ever experienced on a trumpet. In a quintet setting it blends perfectly with Bach's and Yamaha's, I have no qualms about using my Lu5a in a section setting! I thought the L bore would take some adjusting but from the second note I played I was sold! It's so good it's stealing time from my ganschhorn!
