Trumcor zinger mute in pure copper!

Posted by Alex Pawlowski on 10th Jan 2022

I’ve been playing your “average” Harmon mute for 6 years now, and thought it was time for an upgrade. I looked at lots of different options, and was drawn to the zinger because of all the distinct praise it got for being the “best Harmon on the market”. I can’t say they are wrong. I got the aluminum one first and instantly noticed how amazing it looked with the brushed black finish and sleek look. It was super light as well. In the horn it was unbelievably free blowing, especially when comparing it to my other Harmon (I don’t even know what one it was, I just know it was from conn). It also was very steady, predictable, and centered all throughout the register, and it plays low notes very well! As you can tell by the Harmon comparison videos from Trent, this Harmon has a very distinct tone, and I personally love it more than any other Harmon I’ve ever heard. It’s just so unique! I noticed how light and agile the aluminum was, and how it was a little on the brighter side as well. I wanted a little darker and smokier of a sound from this already distinct mute, so I decided to return it to ACB and get the copper! ACB made it really easy to return and exchange the mute they were also very generous with the price they charged for it. Once I received the copper mute, I knew it was the one for me. For one, it looks absolutely AMAZING, with a brush/scratch look on the pure copper mute. It is quite a bit weightier than the aluminum, but still not as heavy as other copper mutes. The blow and pitch center felt the same between the two, but the copper sounded darker and smokier, which is exactly what I wanted. Couldn’t be happier with this mute, as it is all I could ever need! If you are thinking about a mute upgrade, just get the zinger, you won’t regret it. A big thanks to the ACB team, who were once again phenomenal in all aspects of their customer service.
