One of Our Favorite Trombones!
These are truly fantastic playing trombones! We cannot keep them in stock and there is a good reason for that. The 4147ib has a rich, full, lively tone that projects with a clean, clear sound and the trombone responds exceptionally well. If we have one in stock you should jump on that chance because it won't last long but the best way to "find one" is to reserve/pre-order yours. If you have any questions please call us at 816-410-0826.
The BEAUTIFUL Ian Bousfield model Getzen Trombone. We are stoked to offer this horn! The 4147ib was designed by Getzen with world-class trombonist Ian Bousfield to play across all registers freely while speaking clearly with great projection.
Check out the video of Ian Bousfield and Christian Griego discuss this amazing horn and how it came to be.
The 4147ib Ian Bousfield model utilizes the Getzen “DS” double edge brace system which eliminates the tension that traditional braces often have. Additionally, the 4147ib features Asymmetrical Bracing which incorporates nickel silver and yellow brass alloys. The combined results diminish the resistance from the bell and the F-attachment, yielding more response and resonance.
Another unique aspect of the Ian Bousfield model is the new approach to the handslide cross brace. It was designed with comfort and performance in mind creating a very well balance and pleasurable ergonomic slide. Anyone who has held a trombone for several hours knows what kind of difference this can make in reducing stress and discomfort in the body that can find its way into our playing. This is perfect for the experienced player or the advanced student who is moving on to their first professional level trombone.
This horn is .547” bore with an 8.5” rose brass unsoldered rim. The tuning slide a is rose brass single radius taper slide (single radius tuning slides are free blowing and open in all registers). The F-attachment is open wrap with the Getzen PowerBore Rotor. The handslide is hand-straightened chrome plated nickel silver inner tubes
On a s(l)ide note: Getzen and Edwards slides are the quintessential poster-child for the phrase “like butter baby!”
This horn comes with a Getzen fiberglass shell case that features adjustable interior padding and backpack straps. This case feels like a gig bag but provides the security of a hard case. Griego CS5 mouthpiece included as well. Bundle in an ACB trombone mouthpiece too! Use the code "ComboDeal" at checkout to save on the ACB mouthpiece of your choice!

From Getzen:
Harmonic Pillar System
The 4147IB features a singular version of the patented Harmonic Pillar System based on a design originally developed for the Edwards T396-AR trombone. The 4147IB comes standard with two different Harmonic Pillars. One pillar is “soft” (copper) and one is “hard” (nickel). You can fine tune the trombone to your desired playing characteristics by choosing the pillar (soft or hard), the direction of threading (front or back), the depth of threading, or no pillar at all. Regardless of which setup is selected, players will notice a dramatic influence on the overall feel, response, and resonance of the trombone.
Handslide Cross Brass
Every aspect of the brace from the material, dimensions, weight, and location was fine tuned to match the overall 4147IB design perfectly. Perhaps the first thing you will notice is the more comfortable feel of the larger diameter brace. While playing, discerning trombonists will realize that the weight, alloy, and location combine to add balance to the handslide. Improving everything from slide action/responsiveness to the intimate feel of the trombone.
Noninvasive, Performance Bracing
Just like the original 4047DS and new 4047ET, the 4147IB utilizes several sophisticated bracing concepts within the bell section. Most noticeable is the Getzen “DS” double edge brace system. This system eliminates the tension inherent within most traditional bracing setups. In addition to the “DS” bracing, the 4147IB features the Asymmetrical Bracing first developed for the 4047DS. Asymmetrical Bracing incorporates both nickel silver and yellow brass alloys to create a more resonant, less restrictive bracing....
Exclusive Case
Custom Reserve tenor trombones come standard in a Getzen exclusive fiberglass, vegan leather case. The case features adjustable interior padding, removable shoulder, and backpack straps, and a zippered exterior pocket sized for tablet storage. The case is highlighted by the premium, vegan leather exterior wrap. The high-grade material gives the luxurious look and feel of genuine distressed leather with the added benefit of abrasion, water, dirt, oil, and ultraviolet resistance. The fiberglass construction of this case provides much more protection than a typical gig bag while being much smaller and lighter than a traditional wood shell case.
