The Tom Crown Gemini is a fantastic metal straight mute, and we are excited to offer it in both aluminum and copper bottom. They are favored by classical and orchestral musicians around the globe, including members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra, Andrea Lucchi and Omar Tomasoni of the Orchestra Santa Cecilia, Rome and Alexis Demailly of the Paris Opera Orchestra.

Here is what Tom Crown has to say about these fantastic mutes:

"The Gemini is a twin to the classic Tom Crown straight mute, but slightly larger, and with differences in tone color and response. It is in our estimation the ideal orchestral metal straight mute."

Excellent mute for Debussy's La Mer

I bought three Tom Crown Gemini straight mutes from you guys at ACB and received via super on time for our next concert with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra (PRSO). The result was fantastic. Super clear sound on soft passages, sparkly on the forte ones, perfect sound match and superb intonation. We will use in all our next concert. Thank you !

    Tom Crown Gemini Straight Mute

Posted by Matt on 7th Jan 2024

I bought this mute for my son, a middle-school trumpet player. Up until this point, he has not liked the sound of the other stone-lined straight mute we have, though I have told him it is an important sound in the trumpet's tonal palette. As expected, this mute is louder than a stone-lined mute, but what surprised me was the tone. I usually appreciate muted brass parts within the context of the overall sound of the band or orchestra, but this one sounds great played alone. There is a clarity and presence to the tone that is hard to describe - just beautiful. My mute-hating son loves playing it, and I love listening to it.
